Category Manager- Indirect

Ajilon is partnering with a cutting-edge company in Raleigh-Durham, NC. This person will apply expert and specialized knowledge in developing category strategies and programs for procuring goods and services such as HR services, Finance services and Legal for a manufacturing company. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement.


Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage indirect spend such as services and supplies.
  • Develops commodity strategies and coordinates procurement projects to improve cost control and functions
  • Develops, plans studies and collects data to determine cost saving options for various categories. Analyzes data obtained
  • Develops and delivers reports for cost savings as a result of studies and projects of commodity activity and negotiations
  • Negotiates complex long term agreements supplier partners in cooperation with Legal team
  • Review requisitions and confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Considers additional methods through contracts to assist the organization to manage inventory Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
  • Develops supplier corrective actions for chronic performance issues. Works in cooperation with Engineering and Quality where appropriate

  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor level degree in business or a related discipline
  • Five (5) years of experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems
