Pay: 35 to 40 an hour

 

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

The Human Resources Generalist provides compliance, recruiting, benefits, and administrative support to the Human Resources Department and the organization. The ideal candidate will have Human Resources experience supporting a fast paced department as well as the ability to perform at a highly organized and analytical level, with attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate workers’ compensation claims and subsequent administrative documentation.
  • Oversee leave of absence administration
  • Initiate, track, and review employee and contractor background checks including drug and health screens for employees, contractors, and volunteers
  • Schedule candidate interviews with hiring managers
  • Assist with the employee and contractor recruitment and onboarding process, including, but not limited to preparing recruiting and onboarding packets, creating staff badges, and ordering lunches
  • Provide written and verbal employment verification
  • Maintain the Human Resources section of the DNW Portal
  • Process and distribute incoming department mail
  • Responsible for annual EEO-1 submission
  • Assist with benefit administration
  • Assist with bi-weekly new hire orientation
  • Assist with Human Resources Information System data entry and audits
  • Provide confidential administrative, operational, and project support to the Human Resources Team
  • Instrumental in ensuring the Human Resources Department is compliant with all required audits
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment-related laws and regulations for California and Nevada.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to take initiative and seek solutions independently
  • Exceptional customer service and very detail oriented
  • Flexibility to adjust in a growing, changing environment
  • Highly organized and resourceful with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with multi-tasking and changing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems
  • Ability to handle data confidentiality
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate work experience; A minimum of 4 years Human Resource experience, and strong knowledge of Human Resource processes and best practices
  • Preferred: PHR or SHRM-CP certification
