Operations Manager – The Kennedy Group

 

The Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, direction, and coordination of the manufacturing plant. Determine and execute policies and procedures for all manufacturing departments, production, plant and equipment maintenance, safety, material planning, and Quality. Make recommendations of equipment requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and leadership to press, finishing, plate making, maintenance, pre-press, and warehouse teams.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, to develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities due to equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of operations and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws.

    Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have strong operations managerial experience and thorough understanding of  Lean and 5S.
  • Proven ability in building teams with a shared interest in the Company’s success.
  • Reasoning abilities to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
  • Demonstrated trust, integrity, and compliance, with no exceptions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  •  

    Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Position requires sitting, standing, talking, and walking in a processing environment.
  • Nature of work requires depth perception, close and far vision, normal color distinction, and normal finger dexterity.
  • Working conditions involve exposure to noise and chemicals (inks/dyes).
  • Physical demands include moderate physical activity that includes prolonged standing and/or walking, handling moderate weight objects up to 50 pounds, and using or carrying equipment or supplies.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 10 years’ experience in a print manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years’ management experience.
  •
